At the end of the day, I think you really gotta do all of your math and do all of your economic calculations to make that decision. Because that's a tough decision to make.

What I advise people is anytime you're doing car repair on a typical vehicle, you’re really not gonna get a return on your investment. So what you're really buying is you’re buying time and usage, almost like rental.

So if I do a major repair and I calculate, how much is that gonna cost me per month, by the time I decide to get rid of the car? And if it's less than car payments and that sort of thing, then maybe it's a good decision.

But the first thing you need to do on any major repair is make sure you look at the car over bumper to bumper. And make sure you know exactly what other repairs it may or may not need. Because if you're gonna do an expensive repair you should probably get the whole car up to speed so now you have a long period of time that you can use it for.

So get all of your data, put all your prices together and see if, yes how long you're gonna be driving the car and then work it out per month and then see if it's better to buy something else or to go and fix what you got. So there's a lot of things you gotta check all your variables there and so get good counsel from a lot of people.
